Gallio Palace, constructed in 1586 on the request of Cardinal Tolomeo Gallio, stands majestically on the northern tip of Lake Como in Gravedona. This imposing structure was strategically built over the remnants of a 12th-century fortress, signifying both its historical and defensive importance. The palace was designed by Pellegrino Tibaldi, a notable architect of the time, under the directive of Cardinal Gallio who had acquired the “Feudo delle Tre Pievi” encompassing Sorico, Dongo, and Gravedona.
The architecture of Gallio Palace is characterized by its robust Renaissance design, featuring four angular towers and expansive balconies that command stunning views over Lake Como.
